Housing Resources Board of Directors
The current Board of Directors consists of volunteer community members, including low-income individuals:
David Cinamon, Chair Architect with MillerHull(Seattle), residential and civic projects. Prior to that 14 years with Cutler-Anderson Architects and Marc LaRoche Architects working on residences around the region. Bainbridge resident since 1991. Interested in preserving a diverse population on Bainbridge by maintaining and growing the availability of affordable housing stock. HRB board member since 2006.
David Browne, Vice-Chair David Browne is a civil engineer with a Bainbridge practice for over 20 years. He has helped in design of several HRB facilities and has been active in community projects. David recently completed seven years on the Board of Hyla Middle School including three years as chairman of the board. He, and his wife Caroline, have lived on Bainbridge Island for over 25 years.
Ned Palmer, Treasurer 1980-present Senior Vice President, Bank of America. Municipal finance banker with Bank of America, N.A. its securities affiliate, Banc of America Securities LLC specializing in affordable housing finance. Has underwritten 40 bond offerings for public housing authorities, half of which have involved tax credits. Responsible for $350 million credit portfolio, $150 million of which is tax credit “bridge” or permanent financing. Served on boards of Woodland Park Zoo and Helpline House. HRB board member since 1998; board chair 2000-2002; board treasurer 5 years.
Sean Gabriel, Secretary Sean has been a volunteer at HRB since 2008 and is featured in the organization's brochure. He served in the Marines and the Arizona National Guard. As a civilian, he worked at the Bureau of Land Management in Arizona and for AECON Buildings in the Seattle area. He currently writes, blogs, and plays competitive wheelchair rugby. He moved to Bainbridge Island in 2007 and lives in VillageHome.
Del Miller, Past Chair Founder and senior partner of Miller Bateman LLP, a boutique commercial corporate and real estate litigation law firm formed in 1999; 30 years practicing law with large Seattle law firm (Bogle & Gates LLP); served several years as outside general counsel for non-profit hospital chain (Sisters of Providence). Served on boards of Medina Children’s Service and Children’s Trust Foundation. HRB board member since 2002; presently board chair.
Tina Gilbert Tina served on the HRB board from 2004 to 2009. She was Chair for 2007 and 2008, Vice Chair for 2005 and 2006. She is co-owner and principal of Avatar Associates, a project management firm on Bainbridge Island. She has worked for 35 years in construction management for commercial, residential, public and private projects in the Northwest and has experience in owner representation, budgeting, scheduling and staff communication. She has lived on the Island since 1989.
Kim Hendrickson Kimberly is a freelance writer who specializes in urban policy. She has been a political science professor at George Washington University in Washington DC and Rhodes College in Memphis, and her articles on urban—and other--issues have appeared in the Boston Herald, City Journal, Policy Review, The Public Interest, and Publius. She has been a board member since 2008.
Don Heppenstall Manager of various businesses; for the past 30 years owner and principal of Pleasant Beach Construction. Extensive experience in all aspects of building construction (finance, management, client relations, etc.). HRB board member since 1999; board vice chair 2001; board chair 2002-2004; board treasure 2004-2005.
Marta Holt Marta moved to Bainbridge Island in 2009 from Indianola to be closer to Seattle University, where she is enrolled in the Master of Public Administration program. As a former long range transportation planner for King County, Marta has worked on several comprehensive plans, and has specialized in non-motorized issues. Her graduate school interests are in urban sustainability and social justice. For the past 13 years, Marta has operated a cottage business, Salish Winds, manufacturing and distributing her line of essential oils based home and body products, and raising her daughter as a single mom with a lot of support. She lived with her daughter at Island Terrace apartments, an HRB property.
Carolyn Leigh Seattle native with BA from University of Washington. 25 year island resident recently retired after 14 years as Windermere Real Estate Associate Broker. Extensive negotiation and management skills. Presently self-employed as organizer and home stager. Dedicated to making lives better. HRB board member since 2002; board secretary 2003-2005.
Martha Monkman Martha is a Senior Financial Analyst who specializes in budgeting, cash management & project management. She and her son have been a Bainbridge Island resident for the past ten years, and during that time has worked for Bremerton Housing Authority, Port of Seattle and most recently, Darigold in Seattle. She relocated here from Portland, Oregon in 2000 so that they could live close to family and enjoy the magnificient natural beauty of Bainbridge.
Danielle Risdon As a retired house manager and personal chef, Danielle moved to Bainbridge Island from Chicago several years ago to be close to her children. She is a Janet West resident and proud mother of four adult children and five grandchildren.
Charles Wenzlau Principal at Wenzlau Architects, a Bainbridge Island firm, Charles is also a stong advocate for affordable housing. He has served on numerous citizen committees and was the chair of the Mayor's Task Force on Affordable Housing. Charles has experience working with a variety of housing and building types, from single-family residences to mixed-use projects and neighborhood planning. He has consulted throughout the Northwest on a variety of town planning projects and has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Washington.
Ann Wilkinson Ann served on the HRB board from 2007 to 2008 as a client representative from IslandHome. She participated in HRB's transitional housing program, and credits her participation, and stay at IslandHome, with her current financial stability. Ann is a frozen fruit broker with a history in film production and a love of music and theater. She is a lifelong Island resident.
