Independent Living Program
This program was created to help island residents with health impairments remain safely in their homes. Clients receive home modifications to remove accessibility barriers in their homes. The program is available to homeowners and renters of all ages. Using funds from the City of Bainbridge Island, U.S. Department of Agriculture and United Way, HRB is able to hire contractors to make necessary alterations/improvements to inaccessible or unsafe homes. Typical safety improvements include:
Occupational Therapy Assessment
Wheelchair ramps
Grab bars
Bathroom modification
Indoor air quality improvements
Communication devices for sight and hearing challenged
