Pocket Change Program

The Pocket Change Program was put in place to meet the needs of low income families who are having trouble coping with their home finances. In essence, the program works to develop a toolbox of financial skills within the family so that even with very little money, families can make safe and intentional decisions about how they budget, track, spend and save:

  • Working towards building small but necessary savings
  • Improving their understanding and use of credit/debit cards
  • Understanding the world of predatory lending and credit rating systems
  • Develop understanding and an ability to manage their finances with a low income and a low wealth base.

Utilizing donated computers and software, support services from a range of specialized organizations in the region and most importantly, the volunteered time of community members who are specialists in the field of finance, our clients will slowly emerge with the tools they need to be much better prepared individuals to cope with the demands of limited income to pay for their families necessities and at the same time, coping with the constant pressures of the advertising world that challenge them as consumers and parents.
